Description
Shock and awe, insurgents, roadside bombs, Sunni Triangle. Before the war in Iraq these terms seldom, if ever, graced our vocabulary. Now, with the onslaught of terrorism around the world and the extended military campaign in Iraq, these terms seem as common to us as baseball and apple pie. But is there more to the story than meets the eye? What can we learn from the lessons of the battlefield?

Ryan served as the Patient Evacuation Team Leading Chief Petty Officer for the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Ramadi Iraq during some of the most memorable events in recent history. Seeing first hand God's fingerprints on nearly every detail of life on the battlefield, Ryan gives an insight that is sure to touch people from every walk of life. More than just an account of war, he takes you on a journey through the mind and activity of God working even in the most arduous of environments.

With Ryan's unique position as a Navy Chief Petty Officer and a pastor, he is able to convey both the physical and spiritual dimensions of life on the battlefield. In addition to basic guiding principles for every Christian's life, Ryan weaves together 30 challenging and spirit provoking devotions written while in the midst of the battlefield. If you have found yourself wanting more in life than just the status quo, Reflections from the Battlefield is sure to challenge you in your relationship with Jesus Christ.

What readers are saying about Reflections from the Battlefield

"Outstanding Read" October 17, 2005
Reviewer: "Coach" (Southern California)
I literally could not put Reflections down when I started. I thought it was going to be another book of war experiences...it is much, much more, Throughout I can see that Ryan was chosen to be God' herald in sharing how God was at work all around him in Ramadi Iraq. From the tragic loss of 18 Marines in a Copter Crash, the Battle of Fallujah and finally the elections that freed Iraq you can see God' fingerprints in every detail of these events.

I recommend to not only troops serving In the Military but to all since we are all on the Battlefield and it brings reassurance that God is with us wherever we go in order for us to fulfill our purpose in HIS plan.

"Life Changing book!" October 14, 2005
Reviewer: "Paul Jones" (Iraq)
I found Reflections from the Battlefield to be timely, relevant, and powerful. Those of us facing the reality of the dangers of combat each day know first hand the things that Ryan Krause talks about. The daily reflections were easily applied to daily life for anyone who follows the the Lord. This will not only impact those who are on the Battlefields physically, but anyone who is on the front lines spiritually.

The other thing compelling about Reflections is that it brings real answers and hope to those struggling with real problems in life. I encourage everyone I meet here on the battlefield to read this book and pass it on!

"Lovely Book" October 10, 2005

I have read every word several times over. Many of the writings have made an impression on my heart and have been of a timely manner to help me.

This book would be a comfort to those that have family or friends serving in Iraq.

"A Powerful Book"
Reviewer: Cara Carlson
Just wanted you to know that I cried my way through the Double STP chapter last night and the photos that followed. Wow, it's a powerful book. It is helping me with my own walk with Christ in my little corner of the world.

I'm excited since reading the chapter last night, as it really made me feel connected to the soldiers and their families. Your book reaches all kinds of avenues of inspiration! Thank you, your book has confirmed for me my own personal small way to contribute support and hopefully Christ's love to these people who give so much every day.

God bless you.

Yes, your book has stirred thought, but more so action to God-it is doing a great work in my unit as there are about 50% of us on our second tour and the question as posed by you in your book-paraphrased, "Lord what is your purpose for my life in that you have placed me in Iraq for a second time." My wife and I posed that question to ourselves this summer as we began to prepare for my departure and God reaffirmed us his purpose for us to come to a point of refinement and daily renewal of His will in our lives...although my wife is in Clarksville, but the separation and deployment difficulties has forced her to see God's refinement in her life and ditto for me on a daily basis... Then while reading your book-it struck a homerun for me and for many others as it ministered from the point of view of having to come to grips with your Christian walk with Christ as outlined in James, more so with the practicality of combat and its rigors in Iraq.

Brother, keep on keeping on-I am seeing the personal and corporate revival you spoke of in your book, as in my first tour but stronger....the Lord works in mysterious ways.

Be blessed.
